While vacationing in a friend's cottage by the sea I was thrilled to find bottlebrush plants filled with happy monarch butterflies and bumblebees. I stood there for over an hour watching them dance and drink the sweet nectar. Perkins Cove, ME

Rainbows in Paterson

Rainbows over the Great Falls in Paterson after downpour

Not a wild pig, but a collared peccary. These creatures moved into the American Southwest in the 1700s from South and Central America. Locally it's called a javelina. It has a very good sense of smell but very poor eyesight. Big Bend National Park, Texas.

This was the most amazing sunset I have ever seen. Of course, it could have just been the location.
