At midnight August 9, local time, Typhoon Muifa made landfall over North Korea. The storm was so large that it affected two other nations, South Korea and China, as well.

At least five deaths in South Korea, and 10 in North Korea, have been blamed on the storm, according to Voice of America. Millions of dollars worth of crops have been damaged, and more than 1.3 million people were evacuated ahead of the storm's arrival in China.

Hurricanes are called typhoons in Asia. In the U.S., the Climate Prediction Center recently increased its forecast for hurricane activity in the Atlantic basin, as the heart of hurricane season arrives.
