Tropical Storm Emily is swirling through the Caribbean on its way to Florida later in the week, according to the latest prediction from the National Hurricane Center.
Tropical storm watches and warnings for Emily are in effect for several of the French Antilles (Gaudeloupe, Desirade, Les Saintes and Marie Galante), for Puerto Rico Vieques and Culebra; for the Dominican Republic; for the U.S. Virgin Islands and for Haiti.
Tropical Storm Emily has winds of about 40 mph. The path of the storm is expected to take it across the arc of the Caribbean islands this week, and over the Bahamas and toward Florida by early Saturday morning.
