Wildflowers blooming in Spring is a major draw to National Wildlife Refuges, according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. This picture shows the view at Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge in southwest Oklahoma, where recent wildfires and drought should promote wildflower growth, says supervisory biologist Walter Munsterman, so we should have a good year. The Friends of the Wichitas, a refuge support group, will host three spring wildflower walks (May 11, May 18, May 25). Call to reserve a place starting May 6 580-429-2197.
