Small apartments and large rents usually make living in New York City a tight situation. City kids are lucky to get their own room let alone their own treehouse. But a treehouse is just what three lucky Manhattan girls have outside their West Village apartment.
According to the Associated Press, artist Melinda Hackett built a treehouse for her daughters in her small backyard. But, it wasn't all fun and games for Hackett and her girls. After a neighbor reported the structure to the city, it took Hackett several months to defend her right to keep the treehouse in her backyard, but eventually the treehouse was granted landmark status.
