The Wildlife Conservation Society announced the discovery of a spectacular black-and-yellow snake from a remote area of Tanzania in East Africa. It's being called Matilda's horned viper, and it can reach over two feet. As soon as it was discovered, it was considered endangered, because its small habitat is threatened by logging and charcoal making, and because it could be targeted for the pet trade.
The snake is named after the daughter of Tim Davenport, director of Wildlife Conservation Society's Tanzania Program.
