TF FOrming Systems will build a green home and office out of an abandoned dilapidated corn silo in Mound City, Mo. It is slated for completion in April 2013.

The 4,900-square-foot silo, owned by local grain farmer J.W. Trimmer, will be constructed out of energy efficient Vertical Insulated Concrete Forms, and together with other methods, is expected to reduce heating expenses by half. The silo sits on 200 acres of farmland in Northeastern Missouri, near the Nebraska border.

The new structure will offer 4900 square feet of space that will be used for offices, a conference room, full kitchen and guest bedrooms and living quarters. Trimmer hopes to have the building complete by April 2013.
