All three fires burning in the Santa Clarita area (The Buckweed fire in Canyon Country, Magic Fire in Stevenson Ranch, and the Ranch fire in Castaic) are meeting up in this area and expected to move towards Ventura County cities of Fillmore and Simi Valley.Panorama California Fire

Sunset after the fires
I took this photo this evening down at Huntington Beach. It was a beautiful sunset in the midst of the smoke created from the massive fires in the area. The oil rig on the horizon emphasizes the cause and effect of global warming and forest fires. Huntington Beach, CA 10-23-07

The fire is expected to burn for another two to three days. Until the blaze is extinguished, "there will literally be thousands of homes that will be threatened at one time or another." Late Sunday morning, palm trees bent in half and embers were carried through the air as winds gusted to 60 to 65 mph. Thick smoke obscured the sun. October 22, 2007Smoke Ash Sun
