If you weren't already planning on making dinner at home tonight here's two more reasons why you should. Food and Water Watch has launched the Affordable, Sustainable Seafood Recipe Contest and Brighter Planet has launched the Mastering the Art of Sustainable Cooking contest.
For Food and Water Watch's contest the challenge is to create a seafood dinner for four people that costs $25 or less using fish recommended in Food & Water Watchs Smart Seafood Guide. I like this challenge because I hate when people say they can't afford to eat sustainable. You need to be creative, but you can do it and you could win $250! So, go cook something for your family!
For Brighter Planet's contest browse their cooking conservation tips which include topics such as menu and dining planning; food sources; and appliances, gadgets and gizmos. Send in your cooking tips and photos in any of the categories. And no pressure or anything but Alice Waters is one of the judges. You could win an Amazon Kindle DX and a $100 gift certificate to load it with cookbooks. Good luck!
