Even the jokes were recycled last night on NBC (and that's a good thing).
"Are they actually going to do something this week or are they just going to put that stupid green peacock in the corner? Asks Liz Lemon on 30 Rock. Yes, the green peacock is back for the third year year of NBC's Green Week, part of the NBC Green is Universal campaign. Thursday night's line up had some great moments. Al Gore was back on 30 Rock changing lightbulbs and recycling jokes. The Office's Dwight turns into Recyclops in an effort to help save or destroy the earth, we're not quite sure. Also we saw some new green humor from Community, highlighting the well intentioned but often stupid things we do for the sake of the earth.

Last night Stephen Colbert debated himself on the Colbert Report in a segment he calls Formidable Opponent, the topic: global warming. It's sad to say, Colbert's debate points, crazy as always, are not too far off from the real global warming debates. Centered around, "which do we put first the state of our planet or the state of our economy," at one point Colbert One (or was it Colbert Two?) just says "recession" over and over again to argue he point.

I tend to think that New York City has everything ... that is, except local oranges, olives and avocados. That's where California steps in.
Now, New Yorkers like myself are not wanting for much as far as culinary delights go. The Union Square Market is huge delivering hundreds of thousands of different varieties of fruits and vegetables throughout the year including nearly 100 varieties of apples alone. Not too shabby at all.

An arcade recycling game and a piano-playing staircase try to change the world.
Remember when your parents used to make airplane sounds as they zoomed a fork-full of broccoli or peas (or whatever veggie you hated) into your mouth. The Fun Theory is kind of like that. It's a site and contest sponsored by Volkswagen with "the thought that something as simple as fun is the easiest way to change peoples behavior for the better. Be it for yourself, for the environment, or something entirely different, just so long as its change for the better."
