Please join me in celebrating the heart of Green Awards ground breaker Roger Doiron for reminding us all of how easy it is to grow our own food.
How easy it is to grow our own food and how difficult it is to pronounce a French name. I'm very happy, excited; actually, nervous is probably more accurate word to be here. I'm trying to picture you all in your organic cotton undergarments and simply not working. Seriously, I'm very happy to be here and I wanna thank the organizers and the sponsors for bringing us all together tonight. Fifteen months ago in the midst of a cold name winter, I had a big green dream, and it's been just an amazing journey to be part of a movement that has transformed that dream into what you saw on screen just a few moments ago, which is 1100 square foot organic kitchen garden on our first month. There are number people who deserve some credit for this and I really like to thank for thousands of people who are part of this movement, and in the end we are able to bring together over a hundred thousand people on a petition, which was presented to the Obamas and we sent thousands of emails to the White House. I'm not sure how they were to receive all of those, but it certainly communicated the strong message, and I also wanna thank the media, because the media who played a critical role in helping us to tell our story. It was actually a year and 5 days ago that we had our first mentioned at the New York Times and we ended up having, I think, 3 mentions in the Times and about 7 mention in newyorktimes.com and just had enormous media coverage in the print media very major newspaper you can think of and the digital media. So, thank you very much for helping us to tell your story. I also wanna, of course, thank the Obamas for leading by example and for eating by example. At the end of the day, it was their call to make and they heard the voice of the people and they dug up the first month and I wanna give particular credit to first lady, Michelle Obama. It took a lot of courage to do what she did. We're talking about our country's most emblematic landscape and she has now made it into a symbol and health and sustainability, and last but not the least, I would like to recognize my first lady, my wife Jacqueline who's with me to night and in everything that I do supporting me all along the way. This reward is also for you to enjoy. Thank you.
