Kasbah du Toubkal Ecolodge, Morocco

Perched at the base of the 13,665-foot Jbel Toubkal, North Africa's highest peak, Kasbah du Toubkal Ecolodge offers a unique mountain experience steeped in local Moroccan culture. The lodge was once the home of a brutal feudal chief, but has been "recycled" into a boutique hotel. The area also served as the backdrop for Martin Scorsese's film Kundun.

If you've ever wanted to live in a genuine Kasbah, this is your chance. And you can feel good that 5% of the money you spend is given directly to the local village association for use in improvement projects. All waste is sorted and recycled or composted.
