The Lazy Environmentalist (a/k/a/ Josh Dorfman) has a new book out that couldn't be better timed: The Lazy Environmentalist on a Budget. Save Money. Save Time. Save the Planet. The book was launched at a very impressive green party this week, with perhaps the biggest budget I've seen for an environmental book event. It's clear Dorfman is making waves, and getting people excited about going green.
The fine organic fare and smooth green atmosphere (in a Chelsea gallery) were brought by Celia Chen, founder of Notes on a Party, which is known for green cocktail events -- dubbed A Night of Eco-Chic Entertaining -- that showcase sustainable products and services. The events are also aimed at educating party planners and promoters on ways to go greener -- which often means saving money, as well as attracting fab eco-friendly celebs, and garnering good will.
Fantastic cucumber martinis and green gimlets were served up by Square One organic vodka (see more organic vodkas). Also sponsoring was Bonterra winery, Preserve recycled cutlery, Pingg digital event management and Rolling Press green printing company.
Dorfman's publisher, Harry N. Abrams, handed out free copies to all who attended, and many guests got them signed in the receiving line.
Green guests included "Green Guru" author and EV expert Seth Leitman, green designer Tiffany Threadgould of RePlayGround! and TerraCycle, TreeHuggers Graham Hill and Bonnie Hulkower, Bahar Shahpar and Molly Garretson from Project Earth Day , Margaret Lydecker of Green Drinks, Danielle Venokur of dvGreen sustainable event design and Joanna Bjork.
