The media has been positively giddy over reports of drunk Rwandan gorillas, who had apparently imbibed too much alcoholic sap. Perhaps everyone needs a funny animals story to help clear the fog of tragic skiing accidents, tragic bonuses and a troubled global economy.

Hey, 2009 is the Year of the Gorilla, so we think the threatened apes deserve a little fun, don't you?
In other funky green news, GreenMuze has an item about MotoArt, the project of artists Dave Hill and Donovan Fell, who spend their days cutting up old planes and recycling them into high-end limited edition works of art.
For example, MotoArt's 747 JetLiner Bed uses the recycled engine cowling as the headboard and arm rest. There are also functional desks made out of cowling and rudders, tables, credenzas, sculptures, and something I've always wanted: ejection seats. The latter won't actually get you out of an awkward situation, but they do look like they'd make a cool place to watch Family Guy from.
Prices available only on request, so they're probably not cheap. But they are certainly talking points, and flyboys can dream
British Columbia-based GreenMuze also has a story about robotic fish being developed to detect pollution. Reminds us of the real fish that protect Sydney's water supply, and is perhaps a forebear of the nanotech-based bots that will someday be crawling our environment, looking for toxins.
Oh, and the dream of usable cold fusion as a clean energy source is still alive, sort of.
Still have a hangover from St. Patrick's Day? Relive your glory with this brief video of drunk-on-the-street interviews from the massive New York City parade. Find out what the Irish really think about the environment, what "green" means to people in different contexts (put that in your pipe and smoke it), and wonder what's up with those silly ears.
The video is by Pamela French, whose work envisions A Greener Apple NYC. French plans to be at Earth Day NYC on April 24th & 25th with her "Greenbox" project to get the public involved.
