I'm back from Brazil, and boy is this parrot's wings tired. Actually, as I just learned this lovely blue bird in flight is a hyacinth macaw, just one of the spectacular wildlife I had the privilege of seeing in the Pantanal region, a World Heritage Site and among the best places in the Americas to see animals. It was also a great place to practice nature photography, and I'll be sharing more of the images I captured in the coming days. After I finish sorting through all 2,000 pictures. And digging myself out from a massive email avalanche.
It feels like fall now back in New York, and lots of exciting green things are happening, here, there and everywhere. I was deeply inspired and heartened by the strong conservation ethic I was met with in Brazil (more about that later), though we all know there's much work to do.
What did you do on your summer vacation? Please share your memories and photos. I can't be the only one organizing memory cards!
