Two up-and-coming green directory services, 3rd Whale and GenGreen Life, have entered a partnership to bring out a more powerful green mobile app, according to a post by Paul Smith (who consults for 3rd Whale) in The Elephant.

Smith writes that the companies are calling their joint project radical collaboration," which is catchy and a nice idea. 3rd Whale, in particular, seems to have been gaining acceptance among wired green consumers, so the combined effort is a hopeful sign of further market penetration for green listings. It seems the goal is to have a vetted list of green restaurants, shops, spas, markets and so on just a few clicks away, wherever you are. From The Elephant piece:
It means GenGreen, whose strongest suit is their green business directory, can focus on building that -- and now that it's combined with 3rdWhales database, youre looking at North America's largest such directory. And GenGreen can now leave the development of a mobile app to 3rdWhale, which has proven experience is in creating mobile apps for values aligned companies including Greenpeace.

At the end of August, two apps will be released: Find Green, the first app to take advantage of this combined and newly expanded database. 3rdWhale Premium will continue to expand, now offering curated news from Mother Nature Network, CSRWire, and Creative Citizens EcoMatters. It's exciting to think all the new ideas inspired, and the effect on all those businesses now more likely to be discovered, reviewed and supported.
