Whatever you want to call it — fake meat, unchicken, chick'n — a mock chicken product will now be offered at KFC's Canadian outposts.

That's right: America's favorite source for buckets of finger-lickin' goodness will now come with a vegan option up north.

According to an article in the Kentucky Post, KFC Canada and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) have been at odds for five years over the company's practices. Now, the two sides have come to a deal where the Canadian chain will improve its chicken slaughter conditions and introduce vegan menu options at 461 stores.

The article says the market for mock meat, which is often soy-based, remains small, but will get a whole lot bigger with KFC's offerings.

David Alexander, director of operations for the Toronto Vegetarian Association, is quoted: "It means more choice for people who are vegetarian and more options for people thinking about it."

PETA will now call off its Kentucky Fried Cruelty campaign in Canada, according to the article, but will continue to pressure KFC in the United States and elsewhere to change its slaughter practices, and sell unchicken.
