Here's a great traditional cookie recipe that can be dressed up for holidays and special occasions.

SERVINGS
Makes about 5 dozen cookies

INGREDIENTS
1 cup butter or margarine (2 sticks), softened
3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon almond extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon salt

PREPARATION
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2. In large bowl, with mixer at medium speed, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla and almond extracts. Reduce speed to low; add flour and salt and beat until well combined.

3. Spoon one-third of dough into cookie press fitted with pattern of your choice. Press cookies, 1 inch apart, on ungreased large cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes, until golden brown around edges. With wide spatula, transfer cookies to wire racks to cool completely.

4. Repeat with remaining cookie dough.
