Hall Wines Cabernet Sauvignon

This extraordinary red is a staff favorite - and not just because it was served at our 2010 Heart of Green Awards ceremony.

The 500-plus-acre Napa Valley vineyard – specializing in classic Bordeaux varietals – is organic, though it won't say so on the bottle. The vineyards were certified in 2010 and the wine-making facilities boast California's first LEED Gold-certification. But about that wine...

"Displaying deep, dark garnet color and lovely aromas of marion berry, bramble, chocolate plum and all-spice," Hall writes about its 2007 vintage, "the palate is lush and concentrated with boysenberry, cassis, anise and semisweet chocolate. Rewarding now, this wine will continue to evolve and delight for 5-10 years."

If only we could be patient enough to wait. It's so good now! ($44 at hallwines.com and wines.com, or $40 at wine.com)
