Every good revolution deserves a manifesto, and for that, we’ve picked Michael Pollan’s new book, In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto.

Michael Pollan is arguably the most important writer in the food world, and he wrote this new book in response to the many who, after reading his important 2006 The Omnivore’s Dilemma, asked, "Okay, I get it, but what should I eat?" His answer: real food. Not packaged food, not imitation food, but food that doesn’t require a chemistry degree in order to read the ingredient list.

It's a short book, but an important one, and one that fully describes the health benefits as well as the earth-friendly elements of what we at The Daily Green call the New Green Cuisine.
