As a chef, Nancy Silverton has been a celebrity chef, a popular author, and now she wants American foodies to re-consider packaged foods.

A high-end chef telling you to buy highly processed, fat-laden junk? Not at all.

Her message is that there's been a revolution in packaged foods, and that means its time to stop buying takeout and start preparing meals at home again. You can eat well, and do it fast (though not necessarily on the cheap).

Her new book is "Twist of the Wrist" (Knopf, $29.95) and it's aimed at all of us who find ourselves, after a long day at work, choosing the easiest fastest food at gourmet groceries or ethnic take out joints rather than cooking a meal at home.

With recent research re-affirming the importance of the family meal (even if it's in front of a TV, no less) her idea hits at the right time.
