Jonathan's Alfalfa Sprouts Recall Expands (Update)

Due to possible salmonella contamination, several types of sprouts are being recalled, including organic sprouts.

Jonathan's Sprouts is recalling several alfalfa sprout products sold at major grocery store chains. Originally announced as a recall only of products marked with the sell-by date of 4/23, the recall has expanded to include all sell-by dates of the following products. Also, the original recall did not include organic sprouts, but the expanded recall does. The alfalfa sprouts may be contaminated with salmonella.

The recalled products include:

  • Jonathan's 4oz Alfalfa Sprouts
  • Jonathan's 4oz Organic Alfalfa Sprouts
  • Jonathan's 4oz Alfalfa with Radish Sprouts
  • Jonathan's 4oz Organic Alfalfa with Radish Sprouts
  • Jonathan's 4oz Gourmet Sprouts
  • Jonathan's 4oz Alfalfa with Dill Sprouts
  • Jonathan's 8oz Alfalfa Sprouts
  • Jonathan's Organic Sprout Salad
  • Jonathan's 5lb Bulk Alfalfa in waxed 18"x11" cardboard cartons
  • Jonathan's 5lb Bulk Organic Alfalfa Sprouts in waxed 18"x11" cardboard cartons
  • Jonathan's 4lb Bulk Alfalfa Sprouts 2-lb. bags in a 13"x9"x6" cardboard carton

The products containing alfalfa sprouts were distributed in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware, and sold at A&P, Grand Union, Stop & Shop, Shaws, Hannaford, Donnelans, Foodmaster, Truccis, Roche Brothers.

Consumers should return the recalled products to the point of purchase and ask for a refund. For additional information, call 508-763-2577.
