Jenny McCarthy again put her star power into the service of helping children with autism last night, as she was on hand for the lighting of a holiday tree in Legoland, Calif.

McCarthy has been highlighting the need for autism research, and the role she believes a good diet plays in treating it, for months now. She and her son, Evan, have become synonymous with the illness, as they promote awareness and her new book, "Louder than Words - A Mother's Journey in Healing Autism."

About 1 in 150 children are diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder today. McCarthy helped them out by convincing the organizers of the event to contribute $10,000 to Talk About Curing Autism, which provides information and support to the families of children with autism.
