Apparently the sugar rush isn't enough of a selling point for candy. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports on the latest crop of energy-inducing, vitamin-boosting, celeb-backed candy products.

Snickers Charged, a bar that contains as much caffeine as a shot of espresso, contains added taurine and B vitamins (oh and chocolate, peanuts, and caramel nougat). The next one up is Dale Jr.'s Big Mo' bar, with caramel or peanut butter fillings. This one is geared toward—you guessed it—any Nascar fan who needs something sweet.

Other themed goodies include packs of all-green M&M's (you know what they say...) for Valentine's Day, a coffee-flavored Twix Java, and Starbucks-branded candy bars from Hershey's (coming in March).

The paper explains that candy companies use limited-time offerings and twists on familiar names to grow sales. If demand is high enough, the product returns (such was the case with dark chocolate M&M's).

Before loading up on empty calories and high fructose corn syrup, consider the natural energy boosters out there, like pineapple.
