After two reported illnesses by The Illinois Department of Health to the USDA, the American Food Group has voluntarily recalled 95,927 pounds of ground beef for possible contamination caused by suspected E. coli bacteria.

The recall covers beef products in bulk weight packages that were produced October 10 and shipped to both retailers and distributors in Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Tennessee, Wisconsin and Virginia, according to the United States Department of Agriculture.

Shipping labels for the affected meat bear the establishment number “Est. 18076” inside the USDA inspection marks.

E. coli is a food-borne bacteria can be deadly in infants, older individuals and those with compromised immune systems. Adults can also become quite ill but are more able to fend off any long term complications.

For the latest recall, see the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service listing.
