This year, my 24-year-old daughter will be home for the holidays with her new beau, Miles. What a thrill! It's been several years since we've hosted a holiday meal and my wife and I are looking forward to meeting his parents. Miles' dad is a Macrobiotic and his mom's a Lacto-ovo Vegetarian.
My daughter, Kayla, is a Vegan and our other daughter, Emma, is a steadfast meat eater who loves all vegetables too. My wife Meggan and I are Locavore Omnivists (hmmm Omnivist could be the next big thing.)
Now you might imagine that this holiday meal scenario would have the average foodie-host bound up in knots of stress but as a flexible, relaxed "joy is the most important thing here" kind of guy, I've decided to make the most of our diverse preferences for food this season. In this spirit, I offer you, dear reader, my uber cool Holiday Table:
Crudites with Pumpkin Sage Pate Vegan
Cauliflower-Leek Soup with Nut Brown Butter and Toasted Hazelnuts Vegan/Vegetarian
Maple and Spice-Brined Turkey - Omnivist
Easy Pan Gravy - Omnivist
Smashed Potatoes with Parnips and Turnips Lacto-ovo Vegetarian/Vegan
Apple Cranberry Crumble Vegan
Pumpkin Pecan Tart - Vegan
