Original Jack Perlmutter Painting ($7)

Trying shopping at thrift stores in upscale neighborhoods for valuable once-in-a-blue-moon finds like this one. I bought this painting not because I particularly liked it or had ever heard of the artist, but because I recognized the name of the art gallery stamped on the back, and I knew that they only handled pricey objets d’art (that’s French for art you may not like but you know you should, because it costs so much). It worked. This was later appraised at $1,200.
