Cars Made by Green Toys Recalled

Small parts, even when made with recylced plastic, pose a choking hazard.

The Daily Green provides information about toxic toy recalls and green toy alternatives.

Well, sometimes even the green toys aren't well made.

Witness the recall of Green Toys' Mini Vehicles, which the Consumer Product Safety Commission says are choking hazards.

Green Toys are made in the U.S. with plastics derived from recycled milk jugs. They were sold nationwide at a variety of retailers, and online for $5 each or $18 for a set, from April to June 2012.

The recall of 50,000 units in the U.S. and 2,500 in Canada is due to the hubcaps, which can detach and be swallowed. The vehicle sets were sold in yellow, green, red, white and blue. Look for the model numbers on the bottom of the cars (except where noted with an *; these were marked on the packaging only.)

Also consider this additional guidance from Green Toys:

The recalled Mini Vehicles were manufactured from March 2012 through June 2012. The manufacturing date is represented by a circle with an arrow in the middle that can be found imprinted on the underside of the front of the car. To the left and right of the arrow are numbers that represent the year and the arrow itself points to the number that represents the month. Cars with an "I" etched into the underside of the car next to the date stamp are not part of the recall.
