Good Housekeeping's February issue spotlights the winners of the 2012 VIP Awards. That's "very innovative product," and, we shouldn't be surprised, several green products made the cut.

The Nest Learning Thermostat ($250) is a programmable thermostat that has all the benefits of that green consumer advocates like The Daily Green extol (namely, it helps you save energy by automatically lowering temperatures when you don't need the house heated in the winter, or raises them when you don't need them cooled in the summer). But it solves one pesky problem: Many people with programmable thermostats don't actually program them. The Nest learns your patterns and adjusts itself with minimal input. "It had our habits down pat in three days," Good Housekeeping gushes.

Replenish Multi-Surface Cleaner is a super-concentrated green cleaner that works, and refills cost as little as 6 cents per ounce, a fraction of comparable brands.

GE Energy Smart Bright from the Start Lightbulbs solves one lingering issue with compact fluorescent bulbs that keeps some consumers away: By creating a hybrid bulb with CFL and halogen technology, GE created a low-mercury bulb with an inviting glow that comes on as soon as you hit the switch.
