For green consumers, wooden toys are often seen as a good alternative to plastic toys. They're seen as wholesome, and free of toxic chemicals and paints, like the lead and cadmium that have prompted so many toy recalls in recent years.

Unfortunately, not all wooden toys are made equal. Battat Inc. is recalling 14,000 musical wooden tables this week because the small pegs on the xylophone could be a choking hazard, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The toy table has a green painted surface and colorful instruments affixed to the top. The table stands about 7.5-inches tall and has three supporting legs. Instruments on the table include a xylophone, cymbal, drum and two drumsticks. They were sold at music and toy stores, and on the Internet from September 2006 to October 2010 for about $30 each.
Parents can request a free replacement by contacting Battat at 800-247-6144 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or by visiting battatco.com.
