260,000 More Children's Products Recalled

Chinese-Made Puppet Theaters, Bookmarks and Halloween Skull Pails Have Lead Paint

The Consumer Product Safety Commission today issued recall notices for these three products, all made in China and all because they contain lead paint:

Guidecraft Inc. Children's Tabletop Puppet Theaters Firm's Recall Hotline: (877) 808-8154

About 5,400 Tabletop Puppet Theaters have been recalled because surface paints on the wooden panels contain excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard. It was sold at specialty toy stores, gift shops, catalogs and Web sites nationwide from June 2006 through August 2007 for about $35.

Antioch Publishing Cool Clip and Mini Cool Clip Bookmarks Firm's Recall Hotline: (800) 543-1515

About 200,000 Cool Clip and Mini Cool Clip have been recalled (in addition to 150,000 bookmarks and journals previously recalled Oct. 4) because paint on the clip of the bookmarks contains excessive levels of lead, which violates the federal lead paint standard. They were sold at book, card and gift stores nationwide from April 2003 through October 2007 for about $4. Designs recalled include:

  • Cool Clips Bookmarks: Sun (two styles), Daisy/Believe, Tiki, Flip Flop, Lady Bug, Music Symbol, SHH!
  • Mini Cool Clips Bookmarks: Flower & Tiki, Peace Flower & Yin Yang, Lighthouse & Sailboat

Albert's Halloween Skull Pails Filled with Halloween Candy Mix Firm's Recall Hotline: (866) 796-6110

About 55,000 Skull Pails Filled With Halloween Candy Mix have been recalled because the surface paint on the eyes, nose, and teeth of the skull contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard. The skull-shaped pail is white with green eyes, nose and teeth. The pail has a clear lid with a label in which "Albert's" and "Skull Pails Filled with Halloween Candy Mix" is printed. It was sold at tetail stores nationwide from September 2007 through October 2007 for $2.
