The Nature Conservancy is organizing Picnic for the Planet, a special event designed to celebrate our planet with healthy and sustainable food on and around Earth Day 2011. The main point of the project is simple: to encourage people to have a meal in the name of Planet Earth. It provides us with a beautiful home, water, and all kinds of different foods. So why not do something nice in return?
Participating in Picnic for the Planet is easy. Simply go to earthday.nature.org and find a picnic near you or organize your own. Invite all your friends and take an excursion to your favorite outdoor spot or your favorite patch of grass to enjoy a nice meal al fresco!
Remember to pack a healthy, local lunch as well as your camera. (We've got some great picnic recipe ideas!) Take lots of pictures and share your experience using the tag #picnic11 on Twitter, Facebook, Flickr or Youtube. After your picnic, log on to nature.org to read stories and see pictures from other picnics around the world.
