Shop for green gifts, fair trade handicrafts, delicious gourmet foods, unique arts and more at eBay's new WorldofGood.com online marketplace.
Every item listed at WorldofGood.com is vetted by third-party trust partners (examples include TransFair USA, Co-op America and Aid to Artisans). The four main categories of "goodprints" include "people positive," "eco positive," "animal friendly" and "supports a cause."
Buyers must have eBay accounts, and sellers have to apply. The goal is to empower eBay's 84.5 million users to "not only shop for great products, but for the story behind them, and to have a benefit to people and the planet," according to general manager Robert Chatwani.
WorldOfGood.com builds on eBay's successful Giving Works program, in which users can offer up anything for sale and donate a specified amount of the proceeds to the nonprofit of their choice (to date $151 million has been raised for 15,000 organizations) -- as well as eBay's MicroPlace, a pioneering forum for microfinance.
So log on and look for gorgeous handmade jewelry, unique home furnishings, exquisite fair trade chocolates, nontoxic toys and much more. Read more about WorldofGood.com here.
