I live in New York State and the only plastics that are recyclable are #1 & #2. The recycling "rules" further state that, within those # categories, only those in forms with a "neck" are recyclable.
Since the # indicates the type of resin used to make the plastic item, why would shape (with or without a "neck") have any impact on it's recyclability?? There are many #1 & #2 plastic items that do not have a "neck" and it makes me crazy to have to throw these away instead of recycle them.
Can you tell me if this "neck" issue is valid or if #1 & #2 items lacking a "neck" can, in fact, be recycled? Thank you!
