I was reading The Daily Green, and wanted to offer statistics reflecting how you can help reduce your carbon footprint and take small steps to help the environment. Eliminating the mail Americans receive in one day could produce enough energy to heat 250,000 homes.
Every year, producing and transporting paper checks has the same environmental impact as burning 674 million gallons of fuel. That's 1,000 Olympic-sized swimming pools full of gas, oil and diesel fuel. If every American turned off just one paper bill, it would save enough paper to stack as tall as 1,000 Empire State Buildings.
These statistics and more are presented in the educational video on eBill Place. The video highlights environmental awareness as one reason more and more consumers are receiving and paying bills online.
