Choose Safer Paint Strippers and Varnish Removers
Avoid toxic chemicals, and look for plant-based and biodegradable alternatives.

Most commercial paint strippers contain VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and chemicals that have been linked to diseases like cancer and liver damage in humans.
Non-toxic alternatives include a soy-based, low-VOC product like Soy-It Graffiti Remover; Ready-Strip 10 Layer Paint and Varnish Remover, which is biodegradable and removes both oil and water-based varnishes and paint; and After Strip Paint Remover Wash, a no-VOC product which removes residues left after paint stripping.
