Although CFL (compact fluorescent) lights are known as a good way to save money on your electric bill, there is a better way: LED (light emitting diode) light bulbs. LED bulbs use only 3-7 watts. Fluorescent bulbs use 20-35 watts per bulb.

Either option is good compared to regular bulbs. A regular 100-watt bulb can use as much as $20 a month when left on all the time. And most households leave at least one bulb on all the time. An LED bulb requires almost no power to operate. Plus, an LED bulb generates almost no heat. This not only leads to less power usage, but also less air conditioning.

LED bulbs cost a little more money in the beginning. But they last almost forever and can save you up to $20 a month each. Some of the best prices I have seen on LED bulbs was at goinggreenshops.com [$6 for night light styles and $30 for standard type bulbs]. They also have a lot of green products too.
