I live in a very warm and humid climate so air conditioning is a must for at least 6 months of the year. I used to turn off my a/c as I headed out the door -- and in my car, I'd turn it off when I parked.

Now I turn off my home a/c about 10 minutes BEFORE I leave. The house still stays cool till I'm out the door and I figure I am saving more than 24 hours of a/c use each year just by turning it off a few minutes early each day.

Same with my auto a/c. I turn off the compressor but keep the fan running about 5 minutes before I reach my destination. The savings will add up!
