Turn the thermostat DOWN? Or LIMIT your aircon use? Rather, challenge the assumption that these energy-hungry means of heating and cooling are necessary at all. Millions of us in the developing world have never had (and would never consider having) residential aircon or central heating, although we get weather as cold and as hot as the U.S. There are plenty of ways to keep cool or warm without using excessive amounts of energy. But assumptions about what is normal need to be challenged first.
