The U.K. today will unveil plans for building off-shore wind farms that will produce enough electricity by 2020 to power every home in England, according to The Daily Mail.

The 7,000 turbine-plan the government will discuss are a step toward that renewable energy future.

In the United States, off-shore wind farms have been controversial, particularly off the coast of Cape Cod, where luxury homes owned by the likes of the Kennedys would see the turbines as tiny blips on the horizon. While some environmental issues – such as proper siting to avoid killing birds – remain concerns, most environmentalists favor wind power as a good source of renewable electricity.
