The Northeast could see its first big snow storm of the season, as a low pressure system moves in across the Ohio Valley with the potential to dump 2-4 inches of snow from upstate New York to Maine, according to AccuWeather.com. Some areas might receive as much as a foot, while other areas will see a mix of freezing rain and sleet.
The storm is one of several that has wreaked havoc in the Plains. Ice storms this week have been blamed for at least 22 deaths, and hundreds of thousands of power outages.
The storm is expected to develop in the East this weekend, and could draw moisture from an unlikely source: Sub-Tropical Storm Olga, which formed overnight near Puerto Rica and is currently drenching the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
