The latest in a series of strong winter storms has slammed California with yet more rain and snow, triggering avalanches that have killed two skiers--and buried two more. Rescuers continue the search for the still missing skiers, according to the San Jose Mercury News, despite bad weather conditions.

The National Weather Service is predicting as much as eight inches of rain for Los Angeles and three feet of snow in California's mountains. In addition to more avalanches, mudflows are expected as well.

Other impacts of the week-long series of strong storms include: airport delays, flooded streets, and evacuations for those living in canyons burned by wildfire this summer and now at risk of flash flood.
