Ross Perot Building Green in Dallas

Third Party Also-Ran Argues for Green Tax Credits

By Dan Shapley

If you're of a certain age, the name Ross Perot conjures a hazy image of big ears and the words "giant sucking sound."

But, since his failed third-party bids for the presidency in 1992 (he won nearly 20% of the popular vote) and 1996 (he won 8% of the popular vote), he's gone back to real estate, and is currently building One Victory Park tower in Dallas, a green building that he hopes will be LEED-certified.

He's also lobbying the city to offer tax credits as incentives for companies to construct and retrofit more energy efficient buildings, according to the Dallas Morning News. He also supports a sales tax to pay for public transportation.
