If youre old enough to remember the Carter Administration like me, youre old enough to have witnessed the birth of modern day recycling in the U.S.A. Im glad and proud that were now a nation where recycling is as common as an eight track tape player was in an AMC Gremlin back when Jimmy was president. Today, more than 80% of U.S. households have easy access to locally based programs for recycling paper, plastic, glass and aluminum.
But recycling isnt just about everyday household items any more. Nonprofit organizations and specialized businesses are springing up everywhere to recycle almost everything imaginable. Here are some that might surprise you....
