Rock stars may not want to dress in Patagonia apparel but most of them will definitely want to participate in their newest environmental project, the Patagonia Music Collective.

The Patagonia Music Collective is a collection of music featuring eco-conscious musicians such as Pearl Jam, Jack Johnson, Maroon 5, Brandi Carlile and many more. So far, two volumes containing 11 tracks each are available. Exclusive tracks are sold at $.99 each and the complete albums at $10.98 each – with all proceeds benefiting environmental organizations of the artists' choice.

Listeners can choose their favorite song on iTunes or on Patagonia Music based on their favorite melody or on their favorite cause. The collective contains as much variety in music genres as it does in environmental action groups so people can download Bonnie Raitt and John Cleary's live version of "So Damn Good" and show their support for Earthjustice or Brandi Carlile's "Turpentine" and help the efforts of Honor the Earth.

Through the Patagonia Music Collective program, musicians can direct money to specific environmental causes by simple donating a song that listeners will be excited to buy since they were previously unavailable. Furthermore, musicians all over the world can push this environmental effort forward by getting involved and providing financing for the environment through their music.

No wonder Patagonia was featured as "The Coolest Company on the Planet" on Fortune's April 2007 cover. Not only are they helping our planet by delighting our ears with harmony and rhythm, but their clothing line is produced with organically grown cotton and soon, consumers will be able to recycle any Patagonia product through their Common Threads recycling program.

Take a look at the list of benefit tracks from the Patagonia Music Collective and match your musical taste to your favorite environmental cause.
