Heavy rains have left the Mississippi River swollen, and turned all eyes to the levees in Louisiana, where flood waters are expected to crest over the next several days.

Significant river flooding is predicted in several areas along the Mississippi River, not just in Louisiana.

As much as five or six inches fell across a huge band of the region in recent days, stretching from West to East across Oklahoma, through Arkansas and Missouri and into Tennessee and Kentucky, and as far south as Texas, Alabama and Louisiana.

Levees in New Orleans are expected to hold, based on river flooding forecasts.
