The Versatile Bright Young Things Little Black Dress
How many ways can you wear a little black dress? If it's an Eliza Starbuck-designed LBD, the possibilities are infinite.
Aimed at reducing consumerism and encouraging people to work with what they've already got in their closets, her Bright Young Things black dress is designed to be worn countless ways over and under other garments, and accessorized to the hilt.
We've assembled a collection of some bright young things wearing her signature shift.
Here, in an homage to Carmen Miranda, Eliza pairs her LBD with this brightly colored frock, some beads... and a pineapple.
Belted Beauty
Says Starbuck: "Ive seen so many women with closets full of clothes who say, 'I havent got a thing to wear.' Im giving them one dress that they can wear forwards, backwards, open, again and again, with anything they like."
Here, Littal's brightly patterned belt with chunky buckle dresses up her Bright Young Things dress.
Black and Blue
Designer Eliza Starbuck knows firsthand what goes into "fast fashion" — she worked as a designer for Coach, J.Crew and Club Monaco before striking out on her own.
Here, Lauren injects a shock of color into her LBD outfit with electric blue knee-highs.
Mad for Plaid
Starbuck manufactures the dresses locally — in New York City — which help's reduce the garment's carbon footprint
Here, Ginny warms the dress up for colder months by wearing it with a plaid undershirt and knee socks.
The LBD Goes Leopard
The dress is currently made out of cotton, but Starbuck says she hopes to make versions in linen and possibly hemp fabric.
Here, Ayasha pairs her LBD with an animal print poet blouse and kitschy belt.
A Shirt Thing
Bohemian and Black
Kate evokes a bohemian style by wearing the LBD as a jacket over a sheer blouse and peasant skirt.
Starbuck says she believes the anti-shopping movement is catching momentum and "within 50 years, it will be mainstream."
A Girly Getup
Tatum wears her LBD as a shirt, pairing it with a pink skirt and an exaggeratedly feminine hat.
A Foreign Affair
A jangly skirt gives Melanie's LBD a Middle Eastern flare.
An LBD in Contrast
Brittany wears her little black dress with a block color belt, a contrasting shawl and sky-high heels.
