For her pioneering research, and a lifetime of conservation and inspiration, Jane Goodall is the very deserving recipient of our 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Daily Green is thrilled to honor Jane Goodall with its 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award, and she was gracious enough to film a short acceptance speech for us.

The Heart of Green Awards honor those individuals, organizations and companies that help green go mainstream, and Goodall's lifetime of work studying and championing chimpanzees and their habitat fits the bill. She's inspired millions with a love of nature and a commitment to protect wild ecosystems.

She's one of those figures who looms large, and yet seems accessible. It's hard to use the standard convention of referring to her by her last name! Congratulations, Jane! And — thanks!
