What would happen if a major hurricane hit New York City? We asked an expert to find out.

Hurricane Irene's path toward the East Coast reminded us of this interview we did with meteorologist and author Bill Evans way back in 2007 about the impacts of a major hurricane hitting New York City. In this video, Evans imagines the impact of a Category 3 hurricane. Hurricane Irene is likely to be a Category 3 hurricane when it strikes North Carolina, but is expected to lose strength as it moves up the coast from there. Still, emergency officials and residents are bracing for the impact this weekend.
