Green River

The Green River, in Southwest Washington State, flows through Mount St. Helens National Monument could be designated a Wild and Scenic River ... or it could be threatened by the development of gold, copper, silver and other mineral mining. The fate of the river, according to American Rivers, lies with Congress and the Forest Service, which could acquire the mineral rights to block the proposed mine.
